Confident: A Prayer

6.png

Pray with me today, knowing that the Lord hears you and will answer. Here are the Scripture references for this prayer: Psalm 27; Matthew 6:34; Lamentations 3:22-24; Isaiah 40:29-31a.

I remain confident of this, Lord: I will see your goodness in the land of the living.

Lord you said, each day has enough trouble of its own. But because of your love I am not consumed, for your compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for you.”

For you, Lord, are my light and salvation, the stronghold of my life. You keep me safe in your dwelling. You hide me in the shelter of your sacred tent and set me high upon a rock so that my head is exalted above all enemies who surround me.  But whom shall I fear? Of whom shall I be afraid? My heart will not fear. I will be confident because I dwell in your house all the days of my life.

Today, my heart says to seek your face. And as I seek you Lord, I know you will be merciful to me and answer because you are my helper. You are God my saviour. Though I am forsaken by mother, father, friend or others, you receive me.

Lead your servant in a straight path today because of your unfailing love. Thank you for hearing my voice whenever I call. I will wait for you Lord. Strengthen me in my weariness. Increase my power because I am weak. Renew my strength when I stumble and fall.

All my hope is in you, Lord, therefore I will be strong and take heart and wait for you because I know that I will see your goodness.

Then, and even now in your presence my sacrifice will be shouts of joy. Today I sing and make music to you because you keep your promises.

Amen.
