What is spiritual direction?

How about we begin with what it’s not. Spiritual direction is not counseling or coaching.

Spiritual direction is soul companionship that centers on your relationship with the Lord. What is He saying? How is He present? Where are you? How’s your heart? It’s creating space for the Holy Spirit to meet with you and help you to know and depend on Him.

We all need emotionally honest conversations to help us hear our own hearts, as well as the heart of the Father. As a spiritual director, I help facilitate this process of listening to the Lord, and attending to what He is saying and doing in your life. Advice may be offered, but it is not the goal. Different practices, like Lectio Divina and Breath Prayers, are used depending on how the Holy Spirit leads, and what you need during your season.

It is recommended that sessions be spaced out on at least a monthly basis to give time for reflection and growth. Other arrangements can be made depending on the need.
