How To Pray During Difficult Seasons
Note #1
After hours of sleeplessness and scrolling through my Instagram explore feed, I thought, “I can’t believe this is happening to me.”
A man in a river taking a leaf from a crocodile with his mouth. Women crawling along the rock wall of a glass walkway with no railing on the other side. Puppies. Slow-mo sprinting, dancing, modeling, love, floods and a woman-preacher with captions. I didn’t have my glasses to see well what she was saying, plus the phone was cotched landscape. So, I unmuted her with low volume (my girls were asleep next to me). I watched her reel on some random account a few times then got out of bed because I was faced with a sharper decision now.
If you pay attention, the Holy Spirit is always nudging with a choice to move towards His presence. This had been my case for hours; and I knew what would happen if I didn’t change my posture—physically and spiritually. I would be fetal for the rest of the day.
My first recommendation, then, is to make the choice. Respond to the Holy Sprit’s nudge against all arguments for the futility of it. Turn your body. Get up. Just move. From bed. From your office window. To your office window or the kitchen floor. If you can do that, you’re well on your way.
Today, if only you would hear his voice,
“Do not harden your hearts…-Psalm 95:7-8; Hebrews 3:15
